Who I am:
I'm the Resident Contrarian, a known blogger/writer with an audience of thousands-to-tens-of-thousands per post and a half-dozen HN frontpages. I'm recommended by Slate Star Codex/Astral Codex Ten and Ben Kuhn's blogroll, and I've been linked by Marginal Revolution and Andrew Sullivan's The Weekly Dish.
My last two years were spent at a YC healthtech company creating high-quality outward-facing content (blog posts, profiles, website copy, etc) and I'm looking for new opportunities doing the same.
I'm a developer who works in the energy efficiency industry; primarily at small companies, and primarily developing the advanced algorithms for control of devices such as batteries, HVACs, EV chargers, and similar things. I have mostly worked behind the meter to reduce energy use and peak loads plus working with data and external signals, such as demand response signals and weather, to optimise the schedule for those devices for the day. I integrate software with hardware, work on backend APIs, and dabble in simple front-ends for developer tools as well. I can do all the work that needs doing, except for front-ends that need to look nice for customers.
I'm interested in working on small teams to get things done with a good work-life balance and with good development practices such as documentation, 1-on-1 code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and etc. I want to work in a language/framework that is compiled and statically typed, such as Go or the like, and with an architectural design that eschews complexity for simplicity.
Email me if you are interested and I'll send a resume. I'm only interested in companies, not outside recruiters.

I'm looking for engineering leadership roles where I can have a strong impact on technical excellence, team culture, process, product and ultimately customer satisfaction and the organization's success. Happy to be hands-on if and when needed, but also ready to focus on higher level objectives if that's where I'm most needed and effective. I'm currently Engineering Manager for a small SaaS company and I also lead DevOps for one of our corporate siblings. Previously I was Director of Engineering for two edtech companies, Platform Architect for a chatbot startup and also lead engineer for a presidential campaign.
A brief about me, I was part of the Serverless Studio team Twilio, and prior to that, Prior to this I was part of SigNoz (YC’W21 an open-source alternative to data dog), there I had quite a great learning exp while building the major pieces of FE (0→1). Before that, I was part of the Platform team (FE platforms) at Raozrpay where I contributed towards standardising the FE stack across the org.
Unfortunately due to the recent restructuring at Twilio, I and my entire team has been laid off :(

About me:
I'm currently a senior full stack engineer at a nonprofit education organization, but I'm looking for a change. The last few years I've provided the majority of my value on the Frontend in React, Node, Typescript, but I am very interested in opportunities that expect me to be more Full Stack and I'd be very motivated to get up to speed quickly with oneOf[Go, Python, Clojure, Rust], as I'd like to extend my breadth of knowledge.
While not having this isn't a deal breaker by any means, a "cherry on top" type fit would be an organization where I can provide value to you with my current bread and butters (React, JS, Typescript) while expecting me to get up to speed in a different backend language quickly.

I'm an ML specialist with both development and research experience, backed by a strong generalist engineering background.
I have six (or 16, depending on how you count) years of professional experience including a FAANG research lab with resulting
publications and patents, as well as an alpha quant research role in a systematic hedge fund, from the data pipelines to
final modeling.
Since then I've been an independent consultant. My latest engagement has included working with an HR tech startup to help
their customers make sense a torrent of free-form text feedback generated by their clients' employees by creating
a custom clustering algorithm and integrating it with their systems.
I'm passionate about generating business value from data, be that directly by making revenue impacting predictions,
or by creating features your clients want. At the same time I'm highly curious and can target anywhere
on the spectrum from basic research to getting something useful running quickly, depending on your needs.
At present, I'm looking for contract work, long-term and high-time commitment is possible.
I'm a junior software developer looking for work. I originally went to school in the Bay Area but decided to run a tiny motel in San Antonio, TX for the last 2 1/2 years.
I most recently worked on an early stage healthcare startup’s iOS app using React Native and worked for a few weeks with a commercial laundry machine company to deliver a fix to their credit card readers on their machines (after disclosing the vulnerability) using some standard Bluetooth libraries.
These were super short part time gigs and I mostly found myself working alone. But I’d really love the opportunity to work with a team again.
I’m open to any opportunity that might suit me or that I can grow into. It could be front end, mobile or backend work. Reach out to me anytime and I’d be glad to have a chat.
Hi, my name is Hiroe, originally from Japan based in London. I am a junior/mid UX/UI Designer focused on building brands and creating digital experiences. Recently, I redesigned and built my portfolio with original illustrations and HTML5 + CSS3!
Adding to my UX/UI design skill sets, I have diverse backgrounds: +10 years of professional experience in fashion sales/branding, psychology and marketing degrees.
My passion is providing exceptional user experiences: designing products that can impact society and everyone's life positively!
I have been working hard, creating, and dedicating myself to studying and gaining related skillsets for the field. I am looking for an opportunity and am available immediately!
I am a Master of Engineering: Computer Science student at KU Leuven, specializing in Artificial Intelligence, and I will be graduating in the summer of 2023. I am actively seeking a post graduation opportunity. I do have a particular interest in the financial world, but I do not have a formal education in finance. Despite my lack of formal education, I am highly motivated to pursue a career in this field, leveraging my expertise and skills learned in Computer Science to address the industry's challenges.
Hi All! I'm Joe, a SWE Bootcamp Graduate looking for my first role in software development. Currently more proficient with Front-End but I'd like to transition into back-end in the future, so I'm interested in both! Happy and willing to learn on the job. Proven track record of working on large-scale complex projects, both alone and as part of a team from previous work and my graduate degree. Self starter and highly motivated.
Due to my non-traditional background I'm constantly learning to broaden my knowledge base within computer science to extend past just programming. I'm currently in the process of obtaining my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification. As well as beginning to work my way through "Operating Systems in Three Easy Pieces" in an effort to become more well rounded as a developer.
I'm a frontend developer with a passion for creating user-friendly web applications. My expertise lies in React, Firebase, and JavaScript, and I enjoy using these technologies to build intuitive and responsive interfaces. I have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget. In addition to my technical skills, I have a strong eye for good design. I'm always looking for ways to improve the user experience and make websites more accessible. Whether I'm developing an e-commerce site or a social media platform, I approach every project with enthusiasm and attention to detail. My goal is to create applications that are not only functional but also visually appealing and easy to use. If your team is looking for a fast and enthusiastic learner, please do get in touch.
Willing to relocate: yes, to any location in Africa, where i can get the necessary permission to live and work.

Résumé/CV: on request (software development, CTO, mentoring, training, fluent in English and German)
Like a recent Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so i am looking to relocate to Africa.
While i could find a job elsewhere i believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location i am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and i am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I am willing to consider a volunteer position if a visa can be arranged.

Machine learning PhD (soon-to-finish) candidate in transfer, meta and few-shot
learning spanning both practice and theory with several top-conference papers.
As a self-starter and machine learning expert, I excel at applying theory and
methods to create value and impact. I'm used to working with big dataset and
deep learning. Github: https://github.com/IsakFalk.
I've previously done an internship in biology+ML at BenevolentAI and I'm
interested in solving problems there using ML, but anything in the area tech
(LLMs, Search etc.) interests me.
I am seeking opportunities to join a forward-thinking team in the US,
particularly NYC or remotely. I hope to work on hard exciting problems in tech,
ideally in an (applied) scientist role, but will also consider data science or
machine learning roles.
Me: Toronto-based Technical Program Manager, just relocated from SF. Five years experience as TPM, 9 in tech. I specialize in working cross-functionally and bridging the gap between technical and business teams and have had a lot of experience at startups and scaleups. Pragmatic with development methodologies; been on both sides and using the minimal amount of collaboratively-built process to enable engineers to build stuff without getting in the way.
What I'm looking for:
- US-based company that is looking to scale the development team's size and efficiency, technical infrastructure, and product documentation
- Or established teams at unicorns or FAANGs that have already established products and workflows but want to improve cross-functional communication and work more efficiently with other teams
- Or a Canadian company that is looking for someone with US tech experience to help them scale up
- Alternatively, happy to do a short contract (1-3 months) to get your teams set up for success, then hand off. Can also jump in and help forecast existing projects (I built a Jira integration) to determine accurate target dates based on existing performance.
Thanks and please email me if you have any questions or just want to chat!
I am a senior/principle software engineer with 17 years of experience with companies such as Intel and VIZIO. I have been a team lead for 5 years. Problem solving has always been my talent and passion. I love to take advantage of opportunities at work to learn, improve and develop products. For example, I was never an embedded engineer but I took the opportunity to write the bluetooth pairing APIs for VIZIO’s first voice remote control. I once spent a week (a slow week during the holidays) root causing a deadlock bug on a TV with only a debug cable to make changes (ssh came later). I helped build and support highly available and eventual consistent pub/sub apps in 2015 to 2017, before Designing Data Intensive Applications book was available. I love CI/CD and the benefits it gives, and I even designed a setup from scratch after working in a department that had very high maturity level of build and test automation.

I prefer to work with people who are familiar with Agile and lean development methodologies and also communicate in English.
I am a big fan of jazz music, and I will not hold it against you if you are not. But fair warning, if we work together, you might catch me humming some Duke Ellington tunes in the background while I am working.

I'm just coming off of a contract and looking for something long or short-term. I've got a fairly broad range of experience, but I'm best suited to full-stack development using technologies like Go, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Docker, and typical front end technologies. I'm comfortable fine-tuning React components or building a CLI tool with Rust — my primary focus is always making useful, awesome things that people will love using, regardless of where it's used or how it's built. That's what drives me and keeps me engaged.
Something else I enjoy a lot is supporting a team. With my experience comes a lot of opportunities to mentor, break down learning barriers, and make development better for my team mates. There's nothing better than helping someone plan a confident path forward, unblocking them, or teaching them something new — it multiplies outputs and makes a day so much more rewarding.
Although I have recent experience with embedded systems, that's kind of outlying; I have a fascination with that technology, but the bulk of what I do is on the web. What I'm best at typically happens in a browser. Occasionally I'll take on jobs that'll send me into robotics and embedded systems, but I'm never too far from my core, primary skill sets. I'm also not all that amazing with electronics or embedded programming; mostly just enthusiastic.

I'm Grant. I've been engineering for a little over 3 years now and I've built some things that I've been proud of and had a lot of fun along the way. My last role was as a Platform Support Engineer at Rutter, an eCommerce and fintech API company, where I would debug customer issues from end to end. Before that, I owned a small business that supplied guitar builders with materials, but I sold the company to focus on programming. Aside from coding, I'm into cycling (MTB, road, gravel, CX), playing guitar, craft beer, record collecting, and home coffee roasting. I'm generally a social person that works well with others, and I love learning and sharing my knowledge and I'm excited to find my next team!
I offer machine/deep learning consultancy: happy to help you understand the state-of-art research and translate models implemented in recent papers into production code.
I can only work part-time (either regularly a few days per week or larger but fixed blocks of time), because I have ongoing research projects in machine learning that I need to finish, though I can work on these remotely if I need to relocate.
I have two distinct graduate degrees, one in CS and one in pure mathematics and an eye for detail, which is crucial when it comes to doing a sensible implementation of certain neural networks.
I have a PhD in operations research---essentially, I solve optimization problems. You can give me a real-world problem and I can translate it into a mathematical model that can be solved (often optimally) via integer programming, constraint programming, or other methods. I'm the father of four young children, so I'm looking for flexible/remote part-time work (I'm also open to contract work).
I'm currently working on a column generation-based daily fantasy sports (DFS) solver as a personal project. Taking as input the predictions/requirements of the user, this solver can generate optimal lineups for multi-entry tourneys. It is, as far as I'm aware, the only DFS solver that can generate provably optimal sets of lineups for multi-entry DFS tourneys.
Software Engineer with CS background and understanding of creating product value proposition for customers.
Prefer a team that deems it is important to seek out other technically competent people to work with. Also prefer teams that take ownership of the stack as much as possible.
As a polyglot ICT professional for nearly 40 years, I've analysed datasets with billions of rows, investigated code libraries with 300k lines of code, built event websites that handled 4 million hits in four days, set-up satellite ground stations in outback Australia, built mapping tools, tracked vehicles and bicycles via GPS, reverse engineered software and hardware, built solutions to scan thousands of bar-codes, tracked livestock, trained staff, written hundreds of technical articles and developed code in dozens of languages on as many platforms, interviewed hundreds of people, produced and presented hundreds of live radio programmes, presented on stage and I've run a consulting company for two decades.
I've been an award winning team leader, have travelled, speak English and Dutch and I'm always curious. I prefer Open Source, am an active radio amateur and podcaster and love to troubleshoot, solve problems and discover and document how things work.
I work remotely from my home-office in Perth, Western Australia, UTC+8.
If you have a complex problem to solve, get in touch!

I'm currently a Director at an Ed-Tech startup where I've been for the past nine years. I am interested in looking for either part-time or contract work. I'd be willing to discuss moving to full-time if the project seems interesting enough. I'm looking to move away from the management side of things and keep with the more hands-on work.
The current desired areas of interest for my next company are National security, Security (General), Climate Change, Agriculture, Automotive, and Robotics.
I enjoy the startup life so I would be perfectly fine with a pre-seed company. A big conglomerate could create interesting opportunities, so I wouldn't exclude that option either.

Throughout my career in the IT industry, I have gained extensive experience in a variety of technical roles, including as a backend developer, QA engineer, hardware engineer, DevOps, team lead, and manager. I have delivered high-quality products through strong work ethics, effective team management and efficient day-to-day operations. In my roles as a lead and manager, I have developed strong communication and collaboration skills that allow me to establish clear goals and expectations with department leads and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
I am looking for a role in a company with an awesome culture where I can contribute and grow.
Hello HN, I am a Computer Science Graduate student at Indiana University and have more than five years of experience as a Software Engineer. I have developed several large distributed systems with Typescript, Node.js, Python, HTTP(S), and different database technologies. I am looking for an opportunity where I can learn and contribute simultaneously. Feel free to have a look at my GitHub profile: https://github.com/sbmthakur/
PS: I am also looking for volunteer opportunities this summer and would welcome any leads or suggestions. Please feel free to contact me if you have information on any such opportunity.
Hi, I'm Gert and I have almost 15 years of experience in various technical roles (software engineer, software architect, solution architect, team-lead). I'm passionate about building software with cutting edge technologies.
Professionally, I've been mostly involved in the .NET and Angular/React ecosystems, but in my own time I enjoy playing around with other technologies and programming languages. I'm looking for a new challenge and I certainly don't mind learning something new.
I am looking for part-time contract or freelance/consulting opportunities at the moment.
I'm an accomplished senior engineer with 17 years of experience building products and solving problems. I'm technology agnostic (I use the best tool for the job), full stack, and a strong generalist. I like building features as a vertical slice through all layers of the stack, from the database all the way up through the frontend. I've worked at companies of all size, from 10 man startups to Disney.
I'm a no-nonsense greybeard who gets things done, but I also keep up to date with all the latest toys. I remember when SPAs were written in Adobe Flex and run on the flash plugin and I've also used react hooks in anger. This gives me a unique perspective and judgement that comes in handy when evaluating new technologies, building new products, making existing products work better and solving difficult problems.

Hey all,
I've been working as a full-time software engineer for about a year at the University of Colorado Boulder. I split my time between two projects, one in the physics department and the other in the math department.
I graduated in May 2022 with a degree in mathematics with a focus on computation and a minor in computer science. During my degree, I worked part-time as a software engineer on both of the aforementioned projects, so I'd like to think I have more than just a year of experience.
My girlfriend is starting a PhD this fall in the Bay Area, and I'd like to be able to follow her. Looking for a job in the Bay Area, but I'm open to other locations. Depends on the job.
I greatly enjoy the process of writing code, and I am constantly improving. Ideally I'd like to work somewhere where I can learn as much as possible. Thank you very much for your consideration!
Hey! I'm Brad, a software engineer in the SoCal area with ~5 years of experience across the stack. I've spent time doing data engineering, traditional Java microservices/APIs, minimal front-end work, but have found my passion in developer experience and tooling. Have a strong history of creating CI/CD solutions on an enterprise scale, from autoscaling Jenkins workers on Kubernetes, creating standardized deployment pipelines for 1000s of microservices, improving build times and lowering compute costs, and creating custom infra-as-code solutions wrapping Terraform, Python/boto3, and Ansible. I'm a huge proponent of DevOps and actually fully owning the product from creation to deployment to production support, and happily able to do each step.
I'd love to work on anything in the SWE backend space or developer tooling, and definitely interested in getting deeper on highly performant services. Happy to chat!
Technologies: Embedded systems, automotive, machine learning, signal processing, data science, real time computing, safety processes (MISRA, ISO26262, etc), MATLAB, FPGA.
Background: Masters in control theory and signal processing, working in the auto industry for the last 7 years, first on low level powertrain software then the last year or so on LIDAR/computer vision for autonomous vehicles. I've done the most work in C, but I'm now getting up to speed on python and the computer vision/numpy/data processing pipeline stack there for data quality/perception work, along with Linux desktop application architecting and development for AV utilities. Recently had to read the Linux kernel source and find a subtle issue in the network stack causing high latency on sensor data for AV, also coincidentally fixed most of the network timing infrastructure.
Side interests include machining, 3D printing, embedded system development, coffee roasting and furniture making.
I've worked at software companies for 16 years now. I've seen and done it all. From working at loads of startups to big fortune 500 companies to a non-profit, and even having my own startup. Need to be semi-anon as I still have a full-time job. I would love to find a place for long term.
The place I'm working at has laid off 50% of the staff. Therefore, it's time for a change. I did heavy react and Django / python work in the last year or two. I would prefer to do more front-end in the next role.
TL;DR;
- Been to all 7 continents of the world
- Built my previously failed deep-tech start-up's MVP
- Worked remotely since 2015
- Had my own business and grew a community from 0 - 50k
- Becoming fluent in Spanish
- Heavily work in Python/JavaScript/Typescript/HTML
Location: Cambridge MA, Chapel Hill NC and Dorset England
Remote: Can do but would prefer to build strong relationships in-person
Willing to relocate: Maybe but only to either North Carolina, London or Southwest England, and not for six months
Technologies: Massive data processing for all of the -omics (C++ and Python, depending), shotgun and capture sequencing, RNA-seq, ancient DNA sequencing,
Email: f"alice@pearson{}".format(extension for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland!)
Bio: Experienced research scientist for all of the -omics. University of Cambridge PhD, Harvard Postdoc in field-leading lab. Comfortable processing terabytes of text files on high-performance computing and only share results when I have a strong conviction that they are right. Would be a great asset to any -omics startup, especially in the consumer or medical genetics spaces. Also a fantastic C++ and Python generalist, willing to consider quant finance roles on East Coast of USA. Husband works in finance so plenty of domain knowledge there as well.
Available for part-time or full-time contract work, preferably on a long-term basis, but I'm also available for smaller projects.
I am very flexible with my working hours (mostly working with clients from USA).
I am a full-stack developer with more than 8 years of professional experience mostly in Node.js, C# .NET and React as a freelance developer. I don't shy away from the DevOps and DBA parts of the project either. I also like to create beautiful UI's that users love.
I prefer a long-term contract, but I'm also available for smaller projects.
I also work through Toptal. My CV is available on my toptal profile and my website.
Remote: Open to it but prefer at least partial in office
Willing to relocate: Yes
Technologies: None, BD/Growth generalist with occasional PM work
Resume/CV: On request

I know I'm not an exact fit here as I'm not an engineer but big HN user so I thought I'd post. I'm currently doing some public service as a fellow advising a member of Congress on tech policy. Previously I was an early sales hire at a marketplace startup focused on AI projects, led a team for the Estonian government, did some consulting/advising on projects related to new cities, novel visas, and defensetech in Africa, Colombia, and Eastern Europe, and was early at a YC/Andreessen backed co (also a marketplace focused on doing custom software with a network of freelancers). I'm looking to jump back into tech, either at a larger company in a Chief of Staff or strategy style role where I can still be a firefighter and person who does a little bit of everything or at an early stage company where I can be a nontechnical generalist. Looking for something more impact focused (e.g., American Dynamism, climate, ways to bring people out of poverty, and energy).
Hi, my name is Jeremy and I'm looking for a backend development role. I've been a web developer for over 20 years and have spent the last 7 years focused on building scalable, reliable, and performant backend systems. I've worked in a variety of industries including casino gaming, rehabilitation services, environmental science, social media, and clinical data management.
I've worked with monolithic and service-oriented architectures, and designed and implemented services that included REST APIs, gRPC, and events.
Even though I mostly do web stuff, I consider myself a generalist and am a life-long learner. I'm in the process of getting my AWS Developer certification.
I’ve worked in remote positions since 2020, both as a developer and as a team lead of a fully remote team, so I have experience with remote-first communication methods and best-practices.
- Recent grad, comp sci major (security focus), business minor
- Interested in Rust and C++, graphics, game engines/tooling, and cloud infrastructure, but open to all work.
- Have prior professional work experience, both before and during university, including a full-stack summer job.
- I've participated in CTFs including NCL Spring 2022 where I placed 30th of 6010 contestants.
- Interested in learning C++ as it lets you build applications that no other language lets you build, but man its hard to stay away from Rust once you've had a taste of the cargo build system and reliable intellisense.
Quick Summary: Self-taught Programmer with hands-on experience in Machine Learning. Trying to break into Product Management and would be interested in taking up Product responsibilities. While I may not have direct PM experience, I have worked extremely hard to develop Product skills at my current PM role which makes a strong potential hire.
Profile Details: As a self-taught programmer with a passion for crafting exceptional products, I bring a unique blend of Technical expertise and Product Management skills to the table. I recently graduated from PM School's Product Management Bootcamp, and have honed my skills in feature ideation, initiative analysis, and collaboration with core teams at Udacity. With hands-on experience in Machine Learning, I am eager to leverage my technical knowledge to drive Product Innovation and Success. My proven track record of Product Development and Strategic thinking make me an ideal candidate for any Product role.

Technologies: Languages - Primarily Go, Typescript, some experience with Python. Infra - AWS (Lambda/Edge, DynamoDB, APIGateway, some EKS) & CDK. Other - Apollo/GraphQL, React, Canvas2D/WebGL.
Bio: If there's a neat summary for a career that has included development on everything from original cancer research, companion interactive web experiences for live television, an in-browser user-generated content editor for a 3d javascript rendering engine, and editor tools for desktop live broadcasting software I have yet to find it.
Nearly 10 years of industry experience, primarily in the media and entertainment industries working on high-performance frontend experiences. As a senior SDE in the trust and safety space for the past year, I've spent that time working on system design and migration plans for legacy services which included tasks like rearchitecting core abstractions, schema migration from SQL to NoSQL while supporting existing application access patterns, etc.
Preference would be for opportunities in web application spaces doing novel things in the browser that would benefit from knowledge of browser internals and rendering, happy to chat about your company's product space and examples of problems your products are trying to solve.

Hi, I'm JD. I am a Software Engineer in the San Francisco bay area with six+ years experience across data engineering, back-end, and full-stack applications. I'm passionate about helping others, teaching, as well as improving the 'developer experience' across the board - for professionals and aspiring developers alike.
For two years I spent time at First Orion in the big data space, protecting users of First Orion products from malicious phone calls. My team designed and implemented the analysis and protection from spam and scam calls in major telecom networks that are still in use today.
I then spent four years at Google working to support users internally through my team's products and frameworks, as well as facilitating courses to teach best practice frameworks for their projects. I spent a lot of time working cross-functionally as a developer and design lead for several projects.
My goal is to keep helping others through my work as much as possible.
I'm mostly interested in remote work or hybrid positions in San Francisco, focused on back-end design or data engineering (but I can do full-stack as well). If my experience piques your interest or you'd like to know more, shoot me an email or message me on LinkedIn (link in resume) :)
Hi, I'm Gavin. For the last 5+ years, I've designed, built, and maintained the software (application and embedded system) for various test and measurement avionics products. At home, I've worked on side projects such as making my own HTTP media server/web interface and porting Perl to the Cosmopolitan Libc (featured on HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33966755). I am interested in various systems and backend software engineering from web to embedded.
Hi! I'm a developer with ~4 years of professional experience currently finishing up a
Masters degree in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur, India.
Previously, I have worked in the finance domain handling large amounts of data mainly in a
vector-oriented programming language and columnar database called q/kdb+.
Apart from q/kdb+, I worked with Python, bash/ksh and Java in my previous roles.
During my Masters, I've been diving deeper into systems level programming including Rust, C, C++,
vectorization with SIMD (x86 intrinsics), parallel programming (OpenMP, TBB), GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL),
compilers (I've started contributing a few fixes to the Rust GCC backend) and the Linux kernel.
If you are looking for a fast learner who can contribute to your gpu/compiler/other systems project,
I would potentially fit the bill.

Hi HN!
I'm an experienced Full Stack developer specialized in back-end, cloud, prototyping (Node, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, K8s, etc.), I'm also interested in React/NextJS/Front-end.
I spent the past year in a role that I'd consider something between a technical product manager and product engineer. Solving problems in both spaces forced me to develop some new skills, however although I'm open both to product and engineering roles I would like to retain a strong technical context.
Throughout my career I have worked remotely with large and small teams and companies.
I have also worked with non-technical founders, helping them develop MVP applications to start-up their business.
I am immediately available for full/part time contracts - although ideally I'm looking for full-time roles.
Technologies: Python, Pytorch, Tensorflow, Jax, machine learning, deep learning, language modeling,
Email: beady.chap-0f@icloud.com
I'm a Research Engineer at Apple, working on Language Models. Have expertise in both building LMs + using these LM APIs to build apps. I'm adept at the fundamentals of machine learning, deep learning and worked across NLP (language models), NLP + CV (Image captioning), and reinforcement learning (PPO for image captioning, robot navigation, etc). I am also a proficient C++ systems developer and worked on several low level systems problems such as sorting, caching, etc before I entered ML space.
What I'm looking for: Though I'm primarily a research engineer, I'm interested in joining a place that lets me wear multiple hats, and gives me enough responsibility and opportunity to scale my personal learnings and skills along with that of the company. My mid term goal (~ 5 years) is to start my own company. Hence, for my next opportunity, I'd like to join a small startup where I can also learn the non-technical parts of building a company.
Hello! I'm a full-stack developer who's worked on web apps, mobile apps, and infrastructure. I'm looking for an opportunity to do my part to advance human flourishing - be that through climate, public service, or science - I want to make a difference. I've worked in domains that most people would think are deadly boring - project management, taxes, finance - but I believe you can find fascinating problems anywhere in the world. I'd love to help you solve yours!
I have 4 years of experience in largely data-related roles. Working on large retail data marts, clickstream and event data processing for a local internet service provider, HR database with highly sensitive information that we needed to protect with row and column level security policies at Amazon, etc. Some of the tech I've used includes some distributed systems and big data processing with Apache Kafka, Nifi, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.
Also have some full stack experience building features on a website written with Vue, Node/Express, and PostgreSQL. I've picked up tech on the job every job I've worked. If you're not sure I'm the right fit, email me and let's chat before you decide. :)
Resume/website: https://exparent.com | This site is my freelancing site but lists some previous projects I've worked on. I'm available to be hired directly as an employee or as a consultant depending on what you want.

I've worked with startups and small businesses for the past 5 years and before that worked at a top 5 management consulting firm. I've directed implementation for apps in three different industries (Enterprise Reporting, B2B eCommerce, and Loan Origination/Management) that have got paying customers and are actively used. I run an active business but almost all activities are delegated so I have the capacity to be a full time team member or consultant for your product. Email me at lenoacvd@gmail.com if interested in seeing my past/current work in further detail.

Hi. I'm looking for full-time remote roles in a well-funded stable company (I will work in the company's core office hours. 0 issues with timezones. Been working remotely before covid)
Building websites since 2016, working with React since 2018 and have 2 years of production next.js experience
Super comfortable with Next.js, React, Redux (with sagas), tailwind, material ui, styled-components, SEO schemas, AMP, MERN, scalable deployment on GCP/AWS/Vercel, incremental migration and parallel deployment (WordPress blogs, new next.js code and old code working on the same domain)
I value web performance (web vitals) and accessibility and could create high conversion dynamic pages
I'm a software developer by trade, Computer Scientist by education. I spent much of my early career at startups working through scaling issues, and hardening their product. Most of my work has been done in Go, and it is my language of choice.
After graduating, I'm looking for a career move into more challenging low-level software and tooling development jobs (kernels, distributed systems, compilers, etc.). I wrote my senior thesis on formally verifying LLVM's ARM backend, have built a few compilers/interpreters, implemented Raft, hacked on xv6, and hack on the Go compiler in my free time.
If you are willing to take a risk on a passionate learner with a few related projects under their belt and you have an LLVM based compiler, LLVM backend, distributed systems problem, OS kernel, or Go compiler project, I think I could get up to speed quick and be a valuable team member.

I'm an experienced product manager, currently at a large US-based corporate firm working as a senior PM for two companies it owns. I'd like to step back away from the corporate feeling. Focused primarily on IDEs and code tooling, with a focus today on C++, but I enjoy all kinds of customer-facing products and they don't need to be high-tech: I like understanding customers, solving problems, and making great UIs that are genuinely usable (ones that are not just current, but also genuinely help people get their work done.) I'm no longer a professional programmer, but I have a long history as a developer before I became a PM and understand development well.
I prefer impactful technology. Currently the tools I manage are relied on by many worldwide, and I've worked before on tools used by scientists that helped drive eco-based political policy or climate change research among more. I would value any product and company that has a positive influence on the world. If you have a positive impact and culture, I will value your goals and can work very well to help you.
At work I have a strong drive to improve processes, teach and mentor, and ultimately of course deliver good products.

Hi, I am Yael Namen.
I am a software engineer with 15+ years experience across several fields, doing full-stack web development--focusing on backend and system design--and more recently, DevOps and infrastructure engineering.
I am detail oriented, and enjoy working on hard problems that require that kind of detail.
I am passionate about improving things for the whole team/org. That can mean process improvements; writing docs; picking up the work other folks don't have the time/interest to pick up (e.g. this is how I got into DevOps).
I am always learning, and enjoy sharing what I know with other engineers, whether through mentoring, book clubs, or tech talks.
I am a UI/UX designer with a background in graphic design, art direction, and more than 6 years of experience in the design industry. I am proficient in creating digital products in agile environments for the consumer and healthcare markets. With my strong analytical, research, and teamwork skills, I have successfully led a variety of projects from conception to development in both office and remote settings. I have extensive experience crafting personas, qualitative analysis, user journeys, user flows, user interface design, low and high fidelity prototypes, stakeholder presentations and design systems for UI components.
I am looking for full-time contract or freelance/consulting opportunities at the moment (up to 40 hours/week) in UI UX Design.

If you are looking for a hardworking and dedicated team member who is eager to learn and grow as a software developer, I would love to connect with you. Thank you for considering me for your team!
I am an experienced software engineer with a career spanning over a decade, having worked in leadership positions on commercial projects as well as hybrid commercial/open source projects, in fields such as consumer gaming, cloud storage, and drone control systems.
In the past few years I have worked on real-time low latency video streaming systems on both mobile and embedded linux platforms, and designed and implemented a commercial end-to-end encrypted cloud storage system for the EU market.
For most of my career I have both contributed to and maintained open source projects, such as Arch Linux ARM where I maintained the Beaglebone Black platform for several years. I was also the maintainer of the OpenHD project[1], where I reorganized and modernized the development and release process, and as the lead developer I created a cross platform touchscreen drone controller called QOpenHD[2].
I have real world experience deploying applications on multiple embedded linux platforms, Mac and Windows systems programming (C, C++, and Rust), iOS/iPad and macOS application development (Obj-C, Obj-C++, Qt, Swift, Rust), and Windows desktop application development (C# .NET/WPF, Qt, Rust).
Experience: I am a UX Designer and Researcher and have been working for over two years now. I have handled projects from conception to research to hand-off. I was previously working at Perch, a Canadian prop-tech startup, conducting research and designing their platforms. I worked collaboratively with product managers and the design lead to gather requirements, conduct research and testing, and create user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes. I have also worked with Rbc and Aerobi in the past. I completed my master's in digital media/interactive design from North-Eastern University Boston.

I'm Chris, a senior full-stack engineer with 7+ years of experience. I've spent the last 6 or so years of my career working in startup or startup-adjacent roles. For the last 2 years I've been lead engineer & co-founder at O(1) - we provide technical & product expertise and engineering resources to early stage startups. We've successfully helped several startups with building out the first versions of their web apps.
Right now looking for new opportunities as an individual contributor. Though I am full-stack, I have more of a backend focus. I consider myself an expert with Python and Django, though I am open to learning new things as well!
Technologies: Lawyer with experience in AI, IP (copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, a splash of patents), Internet governance and other "Internet matters," privacy/data security, and product counseling. Former IT professional. Weekend coder (Python, JS, Ruby).
Love my current job, but my first love is tech, not entertainment. If you're having trouble finding a lawyer that understands your business, let's talk! For a little more background, I've licensed/sold software I've written to prior legal employers. Most of my friends are engineers and I generally understand (admittedly typically at a high-ish level, but sometimes deeper) what they're working on. While in law school I wrote patent specs for a MFA startup, but not much patent experience since.

I'm currently a staff researcher at Penn. I was trying to get a PhD but failed to secure offers, so I'm moving to industry. Historically I've been the sole data scientist and technologist on all projects, and as such have had to learn and become proficient in every step of the data science and analysis pipeline. I'm quick to learn, and I love learning how to use new tools, understanding their philosophy and what they're good for (or not good for!) I generally follow the "Data Science at the Command Line" approach to my work, and I like to build web systems for sharing my work from the lower level (d3.js over full-fat systems like observable, tableau, etc).
Hey there!
I'm a full-stack software engineer who's ready for a change of scenery. I'm open to exploring different opportunities, and I'm particularly interested in positions that utilize React and/or Python.
With six years of experience building such things like cloud-native apps, microservices, serverless apps and REST APIs, I'm confident in my ability to contribute to any project. If you think I could be a good match for your team, feel free to contact me through email or LinkedIn.

I've been programming for 30 years, professionally about half of that, mostly in C and Java.
Naturally I've touched many other languages at times.
I have a lot of experience from embedded, database internals and distributed systems.
It has spanned from the lowest of levels to systems programming.
I'm also growing a bit of a speciality in the security domain.
I've been leading teams in some very tough areas.
No web development or typical business-application experience.
One of my strengths is as an architect and applied researcher, to bring good systems to life.
I am comfortable working at the edge of technology.
If you are looking for someone to lead a development team in an advanced area, then I might be the one.
It could be a CTO-type role in an early startup or a team lead in something more mature.
I am working as a Software Engineer II at Walmart Global Tech. For the last 5 years, my obsession with technology has always been the most fascinating aspect of my life.
In Walmart, I worked with ASDA e-commerce data engineering team under International pillar on Informatica, Looker, Hive, SQL, Spark, and Kafka for DataWarehousing, creating ETL pipelines, and business dashboards.
Later, as a Software Engineer II, I joined Walmart's Mexico Wallet team called Cashi, where I assisted in the development of Campaign Service for managing rewards and wallet promotion. I worked on the Payment Transaction Aggregation Service as part of the team. Also assisted in the conversion of a monolithic architecture to a microservices architecture. Also, I worked on designing low-level and high-level designs for the microservices.
I've worked as a technical consultant at several startups, advising them on Backend Architecture, Distributed Systems, Blockchain, Scripting, Big Data, and Scalability. I've mentored programmers in these fields and have been invited to speak at webinars and forums.
Seeking position as Senior SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Manager
Location: Brazil
Remote: Yes, preferred
Willing to relocate: Yes, possibly
Technologies: AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, git,
GitHub actions, GitLab pipelines, OpenStack, Linux, Python, Shell,
and many more
Résumé/CV: http://botz.org/cv.pdf

I’ve had a nearly 20 year career as an IT manager first and as an SRE /
DevOps engineer later, with a period of practicing permaculture in the
jungle in Brazil in between. I would enjoy working as a contributing
engineer at a smaller company, or coordinating DevOps and reliability
engineering at a larger company as a manager. In either case it should
be company I can believe in, one that will have a positive impact on the
world.
I am at a point in my life where relocation is a possibility for the
right job. I hold an EU passport.
I'm an accomplished Senior Software Engineer with a solid track record in database engineering, optimization, and large-scale data migrations across both established corporations and early-stage startups. Skilled in handling sensitive healthcare data, and developing robust data transformation pipelines and tools for data quality assurance. Experienced in crafting and executing disaster recovery plans, incorporating fault-tolerant systems and performance optimization. Effective team leader with a talent for mentoring and recruitment.
I've been a software engineer and accomplished poet for over a decade, and am looking. Having started three companies, I've worn pretty much every hat in an organization and understand each role's needs and how to translate between different teams to get everyone aligned behind a plan, allowing me to act as a communication hub. I also have extensive experience leading and managing developer teams.
I'm a force multiplier through the three Ts -- Tooling, Teaching, and the above-mentioned Translation between teams.
I specialize in tooling meant to lower or take away the need for scarce developer-hours, and have built a number of low- and no-code solutions for data storage, stream processing, form building, front-end creation, EDI specification for data ingestion and export, complex algorithmic transformations, and lately tools for dealing with Large Language Models.
Currently, I have been helping organizations create a repeatable process for turning initial explorations with LLMs into productionized, repeatable processes.
If you are already in the Generative AI space, I am very interested in hearing more about you and your company. I have a number of thoughts on how to improve both developer and end-user tooling and I would love to work with you to change the world at this pivotal moment in history.
On the other hand, if you need help integrating LLMs such as GPT or any other form of Generative AI (audio, visual) into your organization or offerings, or are in need of training in how to use LLMs effectively for any team in your organization, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at poetic.artifice@gmail.com

- Your developers spend a small, but significant, amount of time solving tickets that involve manual database updates because you can't spare the resources to build customer support tools
- You have a lot of data but it's all over the place and not connected in any significant way so you spend a lot of time working in spreadsheets
- You spend a lot of time thinking about and doing a manual task you wish could just finally be automated
- You want to prototype and build something quickly so you can start showing it to your customers
- You want to have your operations managed at a lower cost

Backend engineer, looking for a new position to start around the middle of May or later. Most recently worked on the data backend (database and api) for https://apertureplatform.com/ which is being shut down for business reasons. 4.5 years software development experience, with previous experience and degree in computer hardware engineering.
I'm a front-end developer with 15+ years of experience. I've co-founded and led a startup, co-founded a small product development studio and freelanced for many years. However, I get the most joy by simply building useful things, hence the focus on front-end development. I like ideating on and implementing new features from zero to one, collaborating closely with designers, yet can also easily work outside of my own spike. Happy to chat!
I‘m a fast learner front-end developer. I did various projects using the mentioned technologies and now I‘m looking for new opportunities to collaborate, learn more and share my knowledge. I love solving problems, overcoming new challenges and teamwork.
Combining the disciplines of mechanical engineering, interaction design, industrial design and user experience, I lead the design of simple, sleek, utilitarian hardware products from concept to delivery.
Currently I’m accountable for every pixel, curve, and behavior at a NYSE traded company.
I’m a powerful internal design evangelist who’s obsessed with finding and understanding users. I work in a discovery oriented agile process where I am comfortable discovering requirements and coauthoring PRDs. I follow a process of continuously prototyping of and relentlessly testing

Résumé/CV: https://github.com/robertsdotpm/resume/blob/main/resume.pdf
Email: matthew@roberts.pm
Hello, I'm a senior blockchain engineer looking for a cool role. I have 10 years of experience but I've been writing software as a hobby even before that. My background is in FinTech / Ledger technology where I created one of the first 'decentralised' exchanges (for 'altcoins.') I did very early work on 'smart contracts' exploring ways to securely move crypto-assets and handle them. I was one of the early people to utilise smart contracts at a time when Ethereum didn't exist yet. I have made small contributions to the design of cross-chain contracts and micro-payment channels.
I have spent a lot of time thinking about the role of trust within contracts and ways to minimalism it. I am also interested in cross-ledger compatibility, and secure crypto-asset storage. I have designed new smart contracts that improve how crypto-assets can be stored, helping to mitigate theft, and contracts that enable advanced smart contracts to occur on ledgers that only have simple transaction capability.
In terms of 'dapps': I have built many trading systems. They cover CFDs, alt-coins, and tokens on various blockchains. I am also interested in p2p networking and spent 2022 building a p2p networking stack from scratch. It's a good way to measure my engineering skills and problem solving so here are the links to that:
I am a SWE at Google London. I am looking for a fulltime position where I can combine my theoretical knowledge and practical skills to address real life challenges. I look for full-time positions where I can put my skills in ML, AI, and general computer science, to use in order to contribute with passion while enjoying working with colleagues from many backgrounds and disciplines.
I'm a seasoned engineer with a decade of experience in the industry that's worked for companies in all stages from seedling startups, to corporate behemoths. I'm currently working as a founding engineer, but due to some economic headwinds the funding situation isn't looking favorable. I still have the startup itch, so founding positions are preferred. I enjoy all aspects of building a business, from follow-me-homes with customers to designing resilient software systems that deliver value to the customer; I'm a full stack software engineer at heart.
Actively looking for Director of Engineering, VP of Engineering, or Principal Engineer positions in full-stack development or DevOps specialization.

Hi, I'm Luke. I'm a full-stack web-dev & generalist with 15 years experience, and a deep passion for empowering humans by marrying tech fundamentals with UI/UX.
Primarily looking for smaller / earlier-stage startups with opportunities for high impact and rapid iteration. I'm an advocate for customer-first mindset, accessibility, type safety, pure functions, immutable data, unit testing, Minimum Viable Process, and close collobaration between Design and Engineering. I've happily taken on leadership roles when the need has arisen, but I never want to stop writing code. :)
I have worked with JavaScript for upwards of 4 years, having freelanced for many entities during that time. I have contributed to the JavaScript ecosystem via NPM and have picked up React and TypeScript to compliment my abilities. I also know Java and can work with AWS. My GitHub displays my aptitude for software development and I am looking for an opportunity to grow with a company.
Senior full-stack dev (lean more towards devops->backend than backend->frontend, but I can still sling some React components together and reduce your JS payload size). Lately I've been loving Stimulus Reflex and playing with a lot of micropython/ESP32/IoT stuff.
I excel at figuring out how to solve problems at all levels of abstraction (including what level of abstraction you should use), getting a solution in place, and then figuring out the feedback loops to iterate on that solution. I'm the senior engineer that knows that most coding is coming to an understanding of what problem you are trying to solve. Sometimes the most impactful code is the code you don't write.
Trying to change the world, still parsing the source code. I've been programming on the web since 1995, had a first career as a social worker and policy statistician, and have worked full-time as a programmer for almost a decade now.
Especially enjoy API and system design, integrating with crappy systems, user research, and really weird bugs. Make a decent PM in a pinch, but would prefer you have great PMs.
Will give you more looks if you can tell me why what you are doing makes the world better, but you've got to really believe it in your heart.

Hi! I'm a rising junior majoring in CS at Carnegie Mellon, and I'm looking to expand upon what I've learned and push myself this summer for some real world experience. I'm passionate about systems, robotics and ML, and would love to explore other realms such as cloud computing and more.
Passionate and pragmatic Software Engineer with 6-years experience in the industry. Worked in different roles: Startup Founder, Architecture, R&D, Project Management, Product Management, Teaching. I can quickly learn and pick up new techs and have also worked with different stacks than the one listed here.
Hi HN, I'm Matt! I'm looking for full-stack or similar software development roles. I’m especially interested in product-focused dev teams (vs. infra). I have recent professional experience working on the backend (Node/Python) and UIs (JS/React). I’d like to work with people that are proactive, collaborative, and intellectually honest. If you think I can help your company build something cool, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks!
I am a (applied) mathematician turned software engineer. I have worked at backend services and iOS apps. I have some side projects involving micro controllers and kernel programming. Last job was on a haskell shop, I would like to keep using functional programming at work if possible. Problem domains with lots of data analysis are great as I can use my math background.
As a senior software engineer with 15 years of experience, I possess full-stack proficiency in developing web applications, with a particular focus on backend development. In my coding practices, I follow Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles. I am also someone who loves taking on new challenges and is always eager to learn and explore new technologies and approaches in software development.
Graduated with a certificate on MIT from Emobilis Training institute then pursued a diploma in computer science and am currently continuing with my bachelors degree. Am open to full-time or internship remote jobs that would help me build my experience. I have no professional experience but i have worked on personal projects as well as group projects from our schools Google Developer Student Club
I would love to work in an organisational level so i canbe able to contribute my skills
Very expert and very productive full stack Rails+React engineer looking for part time or short term full time contract work. Disclosure: I just published https://chess.braimax.com and I'm going to keep it as a side project
I'm a self starter, a very committed engineer with management experience but who likes technical work more. Can deliver a project from gathering requirements to design, implementation and deployment. Years of experience working remotely, including coordinating with other developers and stakeholders.
I’m a web and app developer with over 15 years of professional experience. I’ve worked at startups, mid-sized companies, and large corporations including Apple, eBay, and the Comcast Silicon Valley Innovation Center. I specialize in full-stack web development, but I’m also experienced in iOS development, server administration, database design, and more. I'm primarily available for freelance work (short and medium term contracts) through my own LLC, but I'm very flexible when it comes to when and how I can provide value to your team/project.
I'm a front-end web developer/designer hybrid - I blend modern web technologies and user-centric design to build responsive and engaging interfaces. As a creative developer with a CS background, I'm always seeking for complex challenges to tackle and also ways to improve my craft. I'm also interested to venture more into DevOps or 3D.
I have experience working remotely and am willing to adjust my schedule to accommodate a different time zone.

Technologies: Full stack, strong on databases, microservices, Openshift, event driven architectures (Kafka, some MQ), Databricks, some ML, Java, C#, some Python, Dynatrace. Previously Cassandra, Google datastore, App Engine. Previously lots of UX work and still care about design but not a JS hero.
I'm an extreme generalist working in an actuary-heavy RnD environment currently focused on using nudges + ML + A/B testing for good (not evil) and building out the required tech. I work with a few teams, design the solution and dive deep where something isn't working anywhere in the stack. When something breaks, I own it. When it works, we own it. Our team(s) add stupendous value in a high rate of change environment. My job is to balance business desire for agility and while ensuring that all the right engineering things happen. I love the gig and people, but need to start making contacts in my new home town. I've done a business degree and focus on the business outcomes, but still love optimising an algo or pipeline or tracking down a performance bug using Dynatrace or a SQL profiler.
Things I like: credibility, enthusiasm, adding value to something meaningful. A company with values. Smart people. Hard problems with a reward.
Context matters hugely to how much value we can add so the right place has challenges but potential and great people. Probably not a shoestring startup, life's too expensive here. Tech company or innovative finance / martech / logistics etc.
Honestly, I can move needles when used correctly and I bring a ton of experience from different areas. I can spot value better than most so am good at navigating fuzzy areas and making them rational.
I'm a software engineer focused on crafting delightful web experiences.
I've been working for SaaS companies helping them prototype and scale their solutions for the last 4 years. Recently I've created a micro-SaaS studio focused on e-commerce.
The ideal environment for me is fast-paced with fascinating technical and business challenges.
Seeking opportunities in front-end and full-stack positions.

I'm a software engineer with over 20 years experience, the last 10 of which spent contracting; originally from the UK but now living in Taiwan. I am looking for a remote-only contract, outside IR35, preferably full stack or back-end .NET web development, but I will also consider desktop development for the right job. I still have a UK-based limited company and am legally allowed to work remotely from Taiwan (I have a Taiwanese Gold Card).
I have extensive full-lifecycle experience, from customer-facing requirements gathering, through architecture, development, testing, deployment and support. Very happy to have a chat, please drop me a line :-)
I am a senior web developer with 6 years of experience under my belt. For the past couple of years, I've been leading a team of engineers, helping them grow and improving our hiring process along the way. I'm not afraid to step outside my known technologies/roles, I'm able to learn and adapt quickly. I know when it's best to cut corners and when to take things slow. What matters to me most is delivering value to users rather than obsessing over the technology.
