It's still the wrong question to ask.

We should ask what are the outcomes that these systems produce, not how new the drugs are.

A cutting-edge healthcare system plagued by inequality and extreme costs can produce worse results than a more efficient healthcare system which is not as high-tech.

Well all the diabetics in this discussion are claiming they can’t do without the latest generation insulin.

But yes, I agree. Sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

I mean, its 2021 and you still cannot fractionally scale the resolution without slashing your battery life and losing 30% of your processing power (and some random stuttering on all applications).

Having a 15.6" 1080p screen basically means i need to choose between using my glasses all day or using Windows.

Use Wayland. Fractional scaling works fine there. If you are using X11 and xrandr scaling, and see performance impact, maybe that's the reason why it is not supported in GUI.

On the other hand, I'm have no perfect eyesight, but in Linux, 1080p at 14" is as usable as Windows 10 at 125%. Here, the design choices made by Gnome are hitting its strong points, it is perfect resolution for @1X scale.

Also, any modern DE could scale fonts up to 14pt and far more.

And OFC choose whatever theme, icon and font you like in order to match your resolutions.

Windows 10 is useless without scaling.

> Spare me the "Life is cheaper in the 3-world non-sense"

You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

I'm from Brazil. If you paid me $40.000 yearly to work remotely i would be a top 3%~ earner.

This would entitle me to:

- Renting a 60m2 2bdr, 2bath appartment in a top neighbourhood of São Paulo

- Having a really nice car (by brazillian standards)

- Top notch health insurance in the most respected hospitals in Latin America

- Easily keeping 1/4 of the money for investments and private pension

WSL is not even close to 5-6GB of RAM.

My current instance of Ubuntu 20.04 is hogging around 1200MB while running rust-analyzer and some other devtools.

If ALL jobs around you are underpaid, maybe it's your work that is not as valuable as you think.

I'm not saying this is fair.

Or there is a big imbalance of power.

Someone from Latin America here.

Your impressions are correct. While some violence is greatly exagerated to paint a picture (For instance, Chicago, St Louis, Baltimore, Washington are more violent than São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro), it still is MUCH safer in Europe or Sillicon Valley/New York.

If multiple cores/threads shouldn't be considered vertical scaling, what should?

Overclocking a single-core processor from 2.8Ghz to 4.2Ghz can only take you so far after all...

If the 500 million figure is correct, you would need only a 0,02% (1/5000) increase in spending for a change to be worth $80.000.

Diminishing the notoriously bad load times of GTA:Online by 70% could probably do that. I actually never got into the multiplayer because at the time my HDD was taking several minutes to load the game.

Just a note, it doesn't apply retroactively.

It doesn't matter how much money GTA V made in the past. This applies only to future profit that would be have been lost going forwards.

Too bad that from 2010 to 2020 Toronto experienced its lowest population growth ever. But go on and keep believing that it's somehow the immigrants fault...

That's Big Sur. It's actually versioned as Mac OS 11 and brings macOS much closer to iOS in terms of feel and looks.
