People are aware of this bit it doesn't fit in the narrative for ev Akkus.

Those are not broke after 5-10 year of usage. Small cells might be broken but replaceable and if not used for cars we still can and will use them for power storage.

And then we can recycle them.

> Small cells might be broken but replaceable

You think this is the kind of thing people will do in reality? Will there be economic incentive for this activity?

> And then we can recycle them.

What will the recycling look like? Any idea if it’ll be a net carbon negative?

> Will there be economic incentive for this activity?

Pay several thousand to replace the entire battery pack, or pay some fraction to replace the bad cells? Seems pretty clear to me.

> Any idea if it’ll be a net carbon negative?

Doesn't need to be carbon negative, it just needs to be less bad than what we're doing currently with ICE.

> Doesn't need to be carbon negative, it just needs to be less bad than what we're doing currently with ICE.

That’s what I meant. I guess all in, EVs have to be better than ICEs?

You mean that right?

Like you really think a big Akku from a ev is economically so irrelevant that we will ship it to Africa?

Fixing them (if a cell is broken) is easy and we can use them for 10 years more.

No one will just give it away and I bet that in Africa they would fix cells and use it for energy storage as well.

Your car is not just shitty for our climate your exhaust is also polluting the air we breathe
