In short, you can act as weirdly as you like but if you still claim to be happy and are not a danger to yourself or others, you are not insane. At least, this is how it works in europe.
If US doctors can forcibly treat someone who is happy and non-dangerous just because they fit a checklist, then yeah maybe it's time to take action.
