Another which I'm surprised wasn't mentioned - NERDTree (http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=1658) will give you a tree view of files and folders.

I love NERDTree as a matter of fact I got it mapped to <F3>[1] (it only works on Linux and Windows)

[1]: map <F3> :NERDTreeToggle <CR>
