According to news articles, the second pilot was more experienced and qualified for that aircraft. Shouldn't he/she have been monitoring the approach ?

He/she was the far junior of the two pilots and was reluctant to challenge authority. Or so the story goes.

But we don't actually know for sure that this is what happened, right? At this point it seems to be just speculation that is being repeated as hearsay.
