I should add: I've become so interested in the world and characters and situations I've created (and so have a half dozen or so alpha readers) that I'm planning on writing another two novels as follow-ups.
Awesome! Some advice from a writing group I've attended: Find a good editor that has the time to do a good job. Think of it like this, you can have the greatest band in existence and it can sound like crap with a bad person on the mixer.
I'm not a novelist myself, more of a hobbyist but I've seen the results of good and bad editors in my little group. I've also run the mixer at my parent's church. The key to a good artistic performance is both you and the people supporting you. :)
