I've been researching why fitness apps fail at long-term retention.
Most people drop off after 2-3 months, even with streaks/badges.
For those who lift/run/train regularly:
* What killed your motivation in past apps?
* Would tangible rewards (not just badges) change your behavior?
* What's the difference between a "nice to have" feature and something
you'd actually pay for?
Trying to understand if the problem is UX, incentives, or something else.
Thanks!
But, and I think I may be in the minority here, I've never found value in fitness apps, so never used them beyond a trial period to see if they're useful to me. The reason is because they don't address any need that I have. I don't need them to motivate me (I'm already motivated), and the data is pretty and all, but in the end it doesn't inform my fitness efforts and so I begin to ignore it. That renders any app pointless.
