Ring CEO says his cameras can almost 'zero out crime' within the next 12 months
Not likely by itself. There would also need to be cameras facing each direction of the road to get a license plate, make and model of vehicle. Criminals know about the ring cameras and linger just outside of camera view until other cars have gone by. The road cameras would need to be ALPR enabled. Automation would have to provide a queue for law enforcement agencies to take the closest triggering events that have a clear view of everyone involved along with them getting out of and into their vehicle. The license plate would have to automatically hand off to grid camera computers to track the current location. The system would need to prioritize stolen cars, cars without plates, acts of violence, anyone carrying a weapon, anyone covered in blood, active BOLO's, etc...
This does not even get into the topic of keeping criminals in prison or even putting them there in the first place. This would be an act of futility in places that do not enforce laws and that is why I do not believe "zero out" is applicable short of a nation wide reformation.
