By Birth Alone: The Original Meaning of Birthright Citizenship (ssrn.com)

I think most people feel it’s ridiculous that someone can get on a flight with a tourist visa, lie to the immmigration officer, go to an unlicensed “hospital” to have a baby that will become a US citizen.

On the other hand, if you were born here and went to school here without leaving until you’re like 9 or 10 or some agreed upon logical age, it doesn’t make sense to deport you back to some country where you don’t understand the language or culture.

There’s gotta be a middle ground here. I think most people can accept the ridiculousness of either extreme.

How often does the former happen?

Isn’t that how birth right citizenship works ?

The ultimate vote with your feet

It really deconstructs what citizenship is.

Two babies, one with ancestors on the Mayflower and another one with a mom that just got off the boat in America get the same citizenship.

I think you should provide data behind "most people."
