TSA might like facial recognition but passengers not so much (theregister.com)

Everyone should opt out every single time they encounter facial recognition. Unfortunately I see almost everyone blindly agreeing to ANYTHING they’re asked at an airport

I’m sympathetic to that viewpoint, but there are times that I think it’s appropriate. For me an airport is one of those times. I believe it’s one of the things that makes me safer.

Coincidentally writing this from the airport (ORD). Like it or not, the reality is that there’s not enough personnel to accommodate opt-out passengers.

Then hire more. I hear there's a lot of people looking for work these days.

For sure, the limitation is not availability of people - it’s budgets and/or profit motive.

eventually they’ll (silently) remove the notice about the photo being immediately deleted after verification. then they’ll silently remove the notice about opting out.
