Value engineering is great and all but that doesn't sound like it is the only factor at play.

Many factors, including shady, I'm just noting it's not laziness / chabuduo culture driving behavior in these scenarios.


I mean, “keep the nice thing you built and send a dodgy knock off” sure does raise your quarterly gross margin…
