Good riddance Internet, you did not really make anything better.


Hot take - even given all of its downsides the internet (really, web) did make a lot of things better for a lot of people. Yes, even social media.

And it's unfortunate that HN's native cynicism and misanthropy make it impossible for most people here to see any value in what we're losing.


I don't disagree it did. But... does it do? Will it does?

Was mostly being silly. But for sure there's a grain of truth as to the feeling. I don't think it's wrong to have a love hate relationship. And sure, maybe I'd cry when it goes. But would I need it to come back? So many things about our society today seem to rely on them. But I remember a time when that was not the case, or certainly not to this extent. So with that in mind, maybe there's a happy medium? Not an Internet but just some nets? A smidge of the good stuff?
