It's also an ideologically motivated misframing. It ignores any arguments about the actual harms of this sort of media and pretends it's all about pearl-clutching.
What are the harms of pornographic media? To me it seems pretty clear that they help reduce sexual violence (why risk jail if I can safely indulge in a fantasy), and I wouldn't be surprised that countries with pornographic bans are more misogynistic.
No, it's not the same thing. Legalizing prostitution still involves real people which can be harmed during the act; replaying depictions in media does not.
I don't understand what position you're arguing for. In case of prostitution, there has to be lot more consent given, unlike in media (where it might not be required at all, in case of drawn or generated content). More consent => more risk of it not being given properly.
In any case, my question and argument wasn't about consent at all, but harm. I can see a world with brothel on every corner being easily more harmful than a world with access to pornography, even if the consent is 100% in both worlds.
Should we? Idk. Escorts are quite available in the US, but I'd never use one. However if I could step into the back for a quickie while the tank was filling...
I don't think that's ignoring so much as most people do consider that pearl clutching censorship. You should at least cite some studies on the harms for discussion, but I've not been convinced by it in the past when I looked.
