Yeah. That's the impression I came away with as well. Yes, I fully believe that he is right to point out that we are prone to many psychological failings. We're also right to look out for them and realise that we will be fooled from time to time. But we still all need to live in this world. We can't all just sit around and wait for science to tell us whether what we're doing is fine. Until evidence amasses, the reasonable thing to do is to make a careful assessment and proceed cautiously, not sit still and tremble at the thought of acting. I don't want to be dismissive - I think the author makes some good points, just that he also strongly overstates those points, IMO.
