I'm surprised to discover I actually like the layout. Mainly because, with sites like Reddit, much of the time the content is just an image, and you're just interested in the top couple of comments. If they can put this content straight onto the main page, it's actually more efficient to consume.

I hope they implemented threaded votable comments soon, though -- the community discussion is the main thing, for a lot of people!
