Trump administration directs widespread pause of federal loans and grants (thehill.com)

Got a fun e-mail from our provost this morning saying to try not to spend any non-personnel money on federal grants (as far as I know, the University has already received the money from current grants, though maybe there are potential caveats or accounting issues?).

Sounds a lot like what was happening internally within UK universities immediately post-Brexit. The money just dried up, and polite discussions between competing professors during talks started to take on a real visceral quality.

My fiancee is the Accounting Manager for a university. Their department is going crazy today trying to push through as many of the draws and grants they are eligible for by 5pm ET today.

I wonder if this action will undo this recent loan guarantee. It's not a "loan or grant", is it?
