It looks like something broke since the author wrote the article, and he reverted to using Google. Example links lead to blank results, while the search box on top of every page of the web site mentioned in the article leads to Google-powered search results. Anybody have luck with integrating YBoss results?

We'd love to hear more feedback like this. If we don't know that something isn't quite right we can't fix it. If there are things we can improve for you unless you tell us we can't do them.
I've emailed you hopefully we can work through this list and get them all fixed :)
When I do a search for the string "test" (without quotes), the returned JSON's 6th entry is
Student's t-test - Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia
When you visit the clickurl Yahoo's servers return 403 Forbidden
Search for "javascript", the returned JSON's 4th entry is:
About JavaScript - MDC
For which the yahoo clickurl serves an invalid SSL certificate.
I haven't had issues getting the JSON results, but with visiting the results I get these errors a significant amount of the time, which ruins the experience of having a faster search interface in your browser. (I've responded to the Yahoo engineer with these examples as well)
