Python 3.11 is 1.25x faster than 3.10 (python.org)

(2022), effectively. Also, this is a very broad generalization; and people who aren't upgrading with every point release (even with a few releases' lag) probably have a reason for that. For example, I have multiple versions of Python compiled from source, but the system uses 3.10 because that's what my distro provides. (When I update, I'll get 3.12 automatically; but I understand from experience that the system Python is not suitable for development.)


Ok fair points - I also know many packages still depend on Python 3.10, so some don't upgrade yet


3.11 was released ages ago, but it's stable enough for most people to upgrade! If you're still on 3.10, definitely upgrade!
