Transit workers who lost jobs when they didn't get Covid vaccines awarded $1M (nbcnews.com)

a vaccine works in the context of the whole population ... it is usually (very slightly) risky for the individual but as a group we all benefit from selfless individuals who value the community over their own selfish interest (vulnerable folks to be excluded from this comment, or course)

I don't know.

The vaccine wasn't as effective as it might have been. So it didn't really matter that acceptance wasn't 100%.

For a better vaccine, or a less virulent virus, it might have mattered. But for the ones we got, it didn't.

This was the rhetoric at the time and it just doesn’t fly.

You can’t force people to do something to their bodies in order to make you feel safe.

If you’re that worried, just stay home.

I just can't comprehend anyone being ok with government mandated injections, particularly when tied to your ID. How many governments in history would they trust with such powers.

If the covid vaccines were sterilizing vaccines that would be a good point, but they're not. As an example let me cite the case of Anthony Fauci, who kept up to date on his boosters but got covid three times.

(And what do you know, each time he didn't take the Remdesivir he limited everyone else to taking the first year of the epidemic, he took Paxlovid instead.)

Good. Forcing medical procedures onto people is a violation of basic human rights. And no, I don’t buy the argument that they “weren’t forced to because they can quit”.

I think I would sooner argue that refusing to take a safe vaccine and exposing others (or yourself if you have dependents) to potentially serious but largely avoidable diseases would be the greater violation.

Do you otherwise support “at-will employment”?

It is already illegal to fire people based on their religious beliefs.
