A Single Memory Is Stored in Multiple Copies in the Brain (nautil.us)

This cannot be the pinnacle of modern science.

Every part of the brain "inflecting" upon whichever senses (even conceptual) will have a holographic, associative residual impression (memory.) Though cognitive technology (techniques) vary far and wide.

The brain uses different parts of the mind throughout the day, and there are parts of the mind specializing in certain activities.

Every time that memory is reflected upon, that reflection is stored (everywhere participating) , giving rise to "changing memories" as restless minds fidget and finick with unsettled memories.

Memories are not only retained perception, they are an active part of our cognition.
