There already are ads in cars- on radios. That should be enough. Do we really want even more distracted driving?
Eyes should be on the road, not on screens watching ads. as long as vehicles need drivers- and judging by how self-driving cars are doing at this point, they are going to need at least driver attention for a good while- it's ridiculous to be pushing even further.
But Ford doesn't profit off those ads. Now they can deliver their own ads and capture some of that profit for the shareholders. Not being distracted is your responsibility, not Ford's, so they have clean hands.
People insisting on subscribing to Spotify instead of being subjected to constant ads and propaganda may have significantly disrupted this business model already?
I don't know for sure but I'm guessing a significant source of revenue for Ford is the supply of replacement parts for existing vehicles. They can likely survive on this source of income for at least the next 20 years.
