It's an extremely mediocre launch so far. The 9700X performs basically identically to the 7700X in almost all workloads. Sometimes it's even notably worse.

Hopefully the X3D will be decent...

I could've swore when I read the review a minute or so after publication, they weren't there.

Other comments on the actual article say the same, so I might not have imagined things and they were added after publication.

There are some that don't (such as many of the gaming benchmarks), but they also have Factorio in the CPU category where it, of course, blows the 9700x out of the water. I don't think anybody was expecting anything but the 9x00x3D to be able to compete with that though. We saw the same thing with the 5700x3D.
