2014 I written on SemiWiki how China would catch up to NAND and RAM production in 10 years time. This isn't far off for those that are aware of how many NAND and DRAM are within the Chinese Market. Especially after it got delayed by sanctions.
It looks like the same will be repeated again in the Display market. Although slightly surprised with going LED instead of OLED. By 2018 the Chinese roadmap of OLED and cost reduction was already way ahead of the curve. Although quality remains in the low end segment. But LCD is already China / Taiwan only.
Display, DRAM, NAND. Even Modem are already in house. The only thing missing is Fabs for CPU and GPU. ARM China is already in the hands of China. IMG / PowerVR is partly owned or controlled by Chinese.
