Regarding the tools, you seem to be missing my point, he explained why he is in a pickle: He develops games...Windows is the premier gaming platform whether he likes it or not...hence he needs to develop on Windows.
He is using the top of the line hardware because of the nature of his work. And I'm presuming you can't disable the iGPU. You are really boxing him into a terrible situation and just because you can tolerate Linux nonsense does not automatically make it an ideal solution for others.

Agreed, I always push back on nonsense from Windows users as well as Linux users. Like I mentioned in my original comment, his main complaints could be solved by Apple but he is stuck with a poorly designed OS given the nature of his work. Linux would not be an improvement as it would still present him with a litany of problems for him to complain about. His main concern would be addressed with the top of the line M series GPU.
