Not wrong but written for Northern hemisphere brains. Down here in upside downland we experience the other side of the solstice in terms of daylight length, and it is my understsnding because of axial tilt our "shortest" is longer than northies, and our "longest" is shorter. But the same "not what you expect" happens.
It tickles me a bit that mornings seem to go on being dark longer: (early riser for rowing on quiet water in Brisbane) the daylength happens at sunset, apparently. Then morning sunrise kicks in earlier later on.
