It may actually be true, some patch-specific varieties apparently can trigger severe allergic responses in some individuals, and not others. It was one of those weird stories I never could find much information about. =)

I'd believe it; fungal antibiotics (e.g. neomycin, various -cillins) trigger allergic responses the same way.

Indeed, it certainly does sound plausible...

It would be terrible being 2 hours away from civilization, and in need of an Epipen.
