Contact us to opt out – Slack's privacy principles (slack.com)

thanks this is absolutely not okay. i sent an opt-out email for the workspace i run, and also contacted the owners of the (omg how did this happen?) 13 other slack workspaces i'm in to let them know about it.

edit: to save everyone the click, the relevant line is:

> Contact us to opt out. If you want to exclude your Customer Data from Slack global models, you can opt out. To opt out, please have your org, workspace owners or primary owner contact our Customer Experience team at feedback@slack.com with your workspace/org URL and the subject line ‘Slack global model opt-out request’. We will process your request and respond once the opt-out has been completed.

I found this here:

That thread makes it clear that people are assuming that unless you explicitly opt out, Slack will feed all your DMs, messages, posts, files, etc., into their LLM.

For example:

"Oh yeah, I'm sure that the people who use the tool specifically made for internal business and work comms are all thrilled to find that all of their comms are being logged by an external service, amazing stuff!"

Do you use Slack?

Are you concerned?
