Fun fact. Three of the apps the author is missing (TextEdit, Dictionary, and Preview) are not originally MacOS X apps. They were NeXTSTEP apps.

Preview is honestly such a good app. On top of everything else, it's also a very powerful PDF editor, which is something many companies built full paid products around — but on macOS you get it for free.

Preview, especially the .pdf editor, is probably the biggest feature I miss when using Windows instead of MacOS. I still don't get, how there isn't a comparable .pdf editor (that I know of) for Windows. The integrated one in Edge is fine for just reading things or highlighting something, but for adding notes, text or even just censoring things it is way worse than Preview.

I think Microsoft assumes you’ll use Adobe Acrobat Pro

Have you tried Okular?

Thank you for the suggestion. While not quite as good as preview this seems way bettet than using Microsoft Edge for working with .pdfs on Windows.

Couldn't agree more - It's probably the app I miss most when I'm on windows. It's an absolute sleeper.
