IIRC, the plan was to have huge airports in places like florida that the 2707 would land at and people would get on subsonic jets to connect to where they wanted to go. Unless sentiment changed due to people hearing how quiet a "sonic boom" actually is when one of them was cruising.

Most of eurpoe also banned overland supersonic flights.
