This suggests something. Knuth's old "literate programming", which is a formalized comment-heavy style. That might be useful for AI-generated code, to capture the "why". The purpose is to provide the info needed as part of the prompt when an LLM next works on the code again.

What's needed is a way to write down what the military calls "commander's intent".[1] Commander's intent reads like "why", but its real purpose is to provide guidance as to what's important when things don't go as planned.
