I highly recommend Rnote to anyone on Linux that misses the "hodgepodge" notetaking of apps like OneNote. It works like a dream on touchscreens and drawing tablets, with a surprising amount of configuration available for those who need it.

Please note that the original app was Xournal [1]. The one you link is a rewrite of the orignal (in C++) and is called Xournal++.

Any suggestions for an Android app that easily exports to PDF? I would like the file format to be vector internally, but backup weekly to PDF.

Edit: just tried it, tap-and-hold on a note brings up a share menu that lets you select PDF. Hopefully that helps!

Thank you for sharing this! I've been searching for a good open-source handwriting app with pen and pdf support on android, and this is by far the most functional I've seen. Actually good enough to start taking notes on my tablet.

Butterfly can export to pdf/svg and is quite feature rich.

Looks nice, but I would be quite wary of using this for anything other than ephemeral work until the file format is stable (or at least backwards compatibility is implemented?).

Warning for Linux users, it's only available packaged as a flatpak. Otherwise it requires Meson to build.

Great application when used with a display tablet. Lacks handwriting recognition, though.
