I really only clicked on this because I had no idea how to parse that headline, and I'm glad I did.

Can we do an over/under on what date this guy ends up in jail?

I would guess a year or so, just because it takes a long time for law enforcement to put a case together and bring it to trial.

Or, the over/under on what date 'the streets' catch up to him, and unfortunately, he gets robbed/shot/murdered? If you're gonna flex like that online, someone is gonna come at you at some point.

TFA: > “Things may eventually catch up to Devon if he isn’t careful,” @Brainjuiceofficial observed, noting that Turner has been shot at before, and also robbed at an ATM while flexing a bunch of cash for a picture and wearing $500k in jewelry.

He's already been shot at. It's part of the thrill and street cred fantasy. There's almost definitely a bullet out there with his name on it already.

I used to live a little dangerously when I was young. At some point I realized that some people just don't give a fuck - jail, beatings or even death is not a deterrent for them, at all. To last in the streets, you either have to be one of those people, or bulletproof.

Why is "being reckless" positively correlated with "lasting"? If anything, it should be correlated with dying first, or being in prison for longer periods, so out of the streets.

Even being one of those people isn't a very good guarantee when it comes to avoiding impact from those you referred to that truly hold no value to their own life, or freedom.

Having spent significant time in jail, I was amazed at the high percentage of people with slugs stuck in them that had issues with the metal detectors. Pretty amazing how many people on "the streets" get shot and don't die from their injuries. I knew one guy with 9 holes in him[0].

[0] I wanted to say he is lucky, but looking him up in the IDOC database I don't think he is: CUSTODY DATE: 08/03/2013 SENTENCE: 60 Years 0 Months 0 Days

That's true, sounds like it's come close before.

My bet is he's a trust fund kid larping.

Krebs is a national treasure. If you ever read his book "SPAM NATION", you'd see how valuable he is. He stood up to Russian cybercrime in the 00s who even tried to threaten his life. He got bulletproof hosters taken-down again and again. These hosters were hosting phrama scams, spam, malware, CP, you name it. He consistently works in the interest of the public good, even when it's hard.

Brian works hard for his money, unlike upstart cybercrime braggarts like the guy he's exposing. I'm so happy people like Brian exist, people like him have the motivation and time to investigate hubris-laden morons like Devon Turner.

This is one of those invulnerable-feeling youth things I think. You could get the idea punchmade dev is hiding his face based on krebs images. But I just Binged punchmade dev and saw at least 20 pictures of his face.

"Binged" like you binge-watched some videos? Or you mean you bung it on the Microsoft search engine?

Just bung it has a nice ring to it.

When you're on Bing for too long, it's a bunghole.

"I Bung it" is great. What about "Bing'd it"?

He hid his face, but even then his tatoos were all visible. Anyone that really wanted to know who this dunce was would know in no time.

The correct term is “googled on Bing”

Maybe if you're an old head but kids these days say "bazinga'd"

I duckduckwent it on Kagi

I'm old skool so it is still AskBing for me...

I don't get it - isn't this just really stupid? Like putting a big target on his chest and saying to everyone (criminals as well as law enforcement) "Come and get me"?

It's a joke in the urban community that rappers rap about their crimes and confess to them, there are quite a few comedy sketches about it.

And even a great track by MF DOOM talking about exactly that[0].

It ended up pervading the culture deeply enough, we get elderly people on the news non-chalantly quoting it[1].

"...did you see the perp - yeah im right here"

He sells an opsec package on his e-shop you know. It's fine, no one can get him.

It sounds like a psyop... The people who buy from him are the real targets and will be put on the lists. No way someone is this dumb, I don't believe it.

I do believe people are dumb enough to believe it, though, and will make purchases from him so they can obtain diamond chains as well.

   > No way someone is this dumb
If you ever find yourself thinking this, you are definitely always wrong. The world is a very big place with lots of people in it and some of them really are incredibly dumb. Example?

I met (IRL) a guy who managed to drill a hole in his own stomach while trying to put up a bookshelf[1].

No matter how outlandish and ostentatiously ridiculous something seems to be I _guarantee_ there is someone out there who is dumb enough.

[1] He didn't tell me how he had got the injury himself, his wife and my aunt told me, and they had (respectively) been there when he did it and taken him to hospital.

I had an uncle by marriage receive multiple inheritances totalling over 600k.

Each and every time he lost that inheritance - every penny - to the same guy.

After all that, he had eaten 0 bites of humble pie and still acted like the smartest guy in the room. Living in a trailer because he was too dumb to know when people were scamming him.

The scary thing? I have met even dumber people than him (although rarely as annoying).

A friend of mine attempted to iron a shirt they were wearing... Other than that they really are pretty damn intelligent.

Dumb? He's going to make money from the idiot wannabes who will buy his "valid" lists (which will likely turn out to be entirely composed of previously-leaked, long-blocked cards).

There is a lot of money to be made for people not afraid to look like an idiot.

If you live a life that allows you to believe nobody is this dumb, I envy you. Don't leave your bubble and in fact, please send me directions.

Yeah it does sound like a honeypot.

I was thinking 'honeypot', too. It makes me think of scantily-clad, female undercover cops, walking the streets, looking to arrest johns for solicitation. Walking the streets, looking and talking sexy isn't illegal. But soliciting someone for sex is. So, not a lawyer, but I'm guessing that talking about online crime and even putting "hacked accounts" up for sale isn't illegal, but knowingly trying to purchase is.

> even putting "hacked accounts" up for sale isn't illegal

IANAL, but isn't it kind of a weird Catch-22, where if weren't illegal, it could be prosecuted as some sort of fraud?

That sounds like a someone calling the cops because the meth they bought was fake, which I've heard actually happens. LOL

Kinda, not really. PII data sales are legal, but I'd imagine putting fake info and selling it may be on that fuzzy line.

> It sounds like a psyop

You guys love that word.

You better believe, this guy is this dumb for real. The most amazing thing about it is this genius, top 1% human material, apparently went to university. Ain't it great to not have annoying things like SAT scores stopping our best and brightest to achieve their life goals?

university of kentucky will admit anyone breathing with a pulse

I don’t see any new info from this article. I thought the author would buy one to see if it’s real and investigate a little deeper. Everything stated was already publicly available info.

Apparently, the cybercrime rapper is terrible at opsec and is seemingly a dumbshit. I, for one, am shook.

Cant he just switch to ai or crypto as all modern criminals do? Lander ip or pump coins.

This won't end well for him. But at least he can sell the story rights to Netflix

Or whoever manages his estate.

His raps are not even good though. Snitching on himself to make bad rap SMH

I thought his song "long live heather" was okay in which he rapped about selling fentanyl-laced drugs to the homeless population https://youtu.be/e9pFGESCc6o

It's even worse, he raps about people overdosing on his drugs, first of which was Heather. I really hope it's all fake.

we're talking rap quality not ethics.

he's more interesting than skilled

I read it. I don’t see how it can be real. I think he’s using the controversy for media attention. If it was real he would have been arrested.
