m5 hosting reported a "DDoS attack against a popular web site we host"

another submission notes that the https cert is newly cloudfare so looks like HN is using it to avoid the DDOS

Any chance we can just keep HN on Cloudflare going forward and turn on caching for non-logged-in users?

I hope not. Cloudflare seems to block users from Cuba and Iran.

It was painful, usually, HN is where one goes to find out if a service is down, I also used Twitter to double check it wasn't just me.
