[flagged] Ask HN: Is Twitter/X working for you?
63 points by stevefan1999 11 months ago | hide | past | favorite | 39 comments
All of a sudden there's no feed, no comments, no posts for me. Only the twitter topic leaderboard (Trends for you) works.

https://api.twitterstat.us/ shows All Systems Operational so we will need to wait for the next health check to see what is up

Same. Interestingly, no errors in the network log, it's like every tweet and follower query is returning 0 results. The data is probably there though because "#TwitterDown" is trending, and I'm not getting any errors if I try to make a post.

DM’s are still working too.

Would this have anything to do with it?

"Twitter is rolling out a “hide replies” function globally today, the biggest new feature to its platform since the invention of the “retweet.” It will be made available to all Twitter users. The new feature has sparked controversy over its design, which puts the original poster in control of which replies to their tweets remain visible. None of the replies are deleted, but are placed behind an extra click to allow the poster to hide replies that are irrelevant, insulting, or disagreeable"

Probably not, hidden replies have been rolled out in the US for a while now

Moving servers on u-haul trucks again?

In Japan, X posts can be found through Yahoo Real Time Search. https://search.yahoo.co.jp/realtime/

No for you or following feeds, and all direct links to posts no longer load.

No - https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/twitter

(Nobody even posted "Concerning" yet)

ok try loading some tweets genius, the site is up, the content is NaN

I initially thought this question was whether Twitter is the right platform for me

Then I figured it's about whether it's actually working right now

>initially thought this question was whether Twitter is the right platform for me

Same here.

So negative on both counts I guess.

Certainly would never want that kind of platform, heck it's not even a fully functional website if they want you to sign up before you can browse their webpages.

Just another extended yawn when so much more could be accomplished by more wisely utilizing the same resources.

Haven't fired enough. By firing more folks problems would be solved. This is why tech companies need to keep experienced folks.

No tweets, no replies, from anyone. Can't see them. Not mine, not people I'm following. Explorer tags are empty.

Just tried and no content loads anywhere. Feeds, messages, list feeds, etc. Website seems ok otherwise, renders fine.

Same. Can’t even see replies for any tweet.

Twitter Spaces is working though, likely since it’s running on a completely different infra on AWS.

Everything down, but weirdly enough Spaces seems to be working fine right now?

nope. hadn't been on all day, but checked when a member of a group chat i'm in on twitter mentioned it. no home feed or posts, but as others here have mentioned, DMs/spaces working fine.

Netflix also. CDN problems?

Well seems like it's back on, I guess they rebooted it

Nope, down for me too.

Just showed follow suggestions, everything else is down

Not working for me either.

Not able to see anything

all my tweets disappeared, ok, i'm not going crazy cool

Down for me as well.

Same, looks dead.

Down for me too.

Down for me too.

What happening?

Very broken.

twitter appears to be bricked

GENIUS

cool, they shut it down

everything is gone

Based on anything in particular, or you're just imagining? It's equally possible Elon decided on a impromptu stress test.

I'm skeptical because I've studied a lot of botnet attacks on social media and things usually fail in more patchy ways rather than just Not Working For Anyone.

I’m pretty sure they are making a joke in reference to a recent reply post Elon made about a post of his that got community noted.

Yep.

And what evidence do you have of that?
