The lead author just successfully defended her thesis on Wednesday!

congrats!!!

Wow! Seems very like their existing 'xenobots' research but made out of human cells this time?! Fascinating stuff! (They are calling them "Anthrobots")

Sounds a bit like once it matures something like this could potentially be made in batches per-patient out of their own cells? Can imagine lots of possibilities along those lines for sure! (as long as their presence in the body can be made otherwise-benign, and of course that they could be 'programmed' to do something specific that you want them to do while in there!).

I really think Michael Levin and team are onto something completely astounding and revolutionary! Great read thanks!

Cancers are pure “Mother Nature’s” badbots. They are bad because they take but do not give. And taking means proliferating and dispersing and ultimately killing themselves and all the well behaved cells. Echos of politics.

Xenobots, anthrobots, and the inevitably musbots (mousebots) could be designed like CAR-T cells and go after the evil-doer cancers.

Mike and team: I hope you are working with NK cells too,

So... is this that "non-human biologics" people are talking about?

Jokes aside, clearing alot of hard work went into this and I do hope this works out in the long run

They are making killer biobots using our cells!

I for one welcome our new Anthrobot overlords!

But that would leave our humanity in jeopardy.

Jeopardy? Love that game. Count me in! Go anthrobots or whatever!
