Aussies, do you not have Vidalia or Walla Walla onions at the store? IMO there's not much need for a low-cry onion with those old varieties around.

I don't think there is anything in the genotype of Vidalia or Walla Walla onions that makes that low-cry. My understanding is that they are grown in areas with low sulfur content in the soil.
