Less a dupe and more "previous discussion" (to paraphrase @dang). It's a different source with different framing (independent magazine and associated commentary vs. an official press release sanitized to some extent by Unity).
I'm sure you're right that both URLs are worth reading and contain different information, but whether a thread should occupy a separate frontpage slot on HN is a different question. Frontpage space is the scarcest resource HN has, so it's important that the stories there be substantially different from one another.
The past is the same 24hr span in this case. At least direct to the further discussion from this post. Keep the discussion in one place. Share it in that thread as an additional source if you want. We don't need multiple threads on the same topic. There's too many dupes in recent times.
