There was an article a few days ago about how wall street firms put pressure on tech companies to do layoffs in order to reduce wages.

And, the C suites got KPI rewards for doing it. So that pay? it went from your hands (as an employee) to their hands (as the people who invested in the company, and who sacked you). It's beautiful.
