If you find this discussion enlightening then I would also recommend the book, a PhD is not enough. It takes a common sense, no nonsense approach to explaining to you that your PhD was only a step in your career and there's many things you lack if you hope to succeed to your full potential. I strongly recommend this book having used it basically as a template for decision making successfully.

Also if you are a postdoc on the fence of academia or industry. Go to industry. You will probably like it. Or you will hate it and can do another postdoc. There's always postdocs around.
