That's why I always avoid installing any apps on my phone, if I can live with a website version. Yes, websites also try to collect as much as they can, but at least there I have a browser sandbox and a possibility to use an uBlock Origin.

Of course, the issue is always with other apps that don't have a website version and require the internet to work. There, one needs to be much more careful about what he installs, and to prefer open source when possible.



Another issue is websites that incessantly push you to install their stupid app. Like, oh, pretty much all of them. LinkedIn, Reddit, insta.

They mainly want you to use the app so they can collect more data obviously.


Restaurants, particularly fast food, also do the same.


Oh yeah I never use them. I did notice McDonalds does try to push you to their app on their ordering kiosks, and they removed some kiosks to make it more difficult to order in person. But I didn't cave in :) I generally hate apps, I'm a real computer guy.
