Editors should just allow you to configure how 2 spaces before code are displayed. It would have the exact same effect. The tabs ship has sailed. There's no reason editors can't represent 2 spaces the same way as tabs.

Or there should just be a character that means "one indentation" that editors can use!

Yeah... I mean, how to represent that type of indentation, I know it's the Tab key on the keyboard, but what to call such a beast.
