Ask HN: What is the term for GAI-based serverice “Generation Engine”

I've had this discussion internally with colleagues about what to call GAI services like Chate-GPTx (where one can enter a query in hopes of recieving a generative response, like new source code, narratives, and concievably images, etc." It's not really a search engine (though the debate continues as you could imagine GAI as an engine that searches a solution space. "Generation Engine" seems apt to us, but I wanted to crowdsource in hopes of finding the term used by the technical community at large.

The self hosted AI community calls them something like "Web UIs" or "Generation UIs" An example:

This perhaps stems from the popularity of gradio web UIs in the early days.

Even for full blown cloud services, I think this is practical, as generative models really need more inputs and knobs than a Google search box.
