We used to send a sample coding exercise (just two lines to change in the code, should take a couple of minutes) prior to scheduling any interviews to avoid wasting our time. With ChatGPT there isn’t really any coding question we can ask. To be clear, candidates could always cheat even before, but the interview started with the solution so if a candidate couldn’t explain what they did, little time would be wasted. ChatGPT will not only solve any problem but also explain the solution.
