After watching WWDC, I was very surprised and a little disappointed at how little attention Siri got. With LLMs taking the world by storm and integrating into almost every single software system around, it’s quite disappointing that upgrading Siri was left to 2 tiny, uninteresting updates.
Does anyone have insight into why Apple might be falling behind in the voice assistant game?
* Bringing Siri up to speed with expectations AND keep it maintained and updated is probably orders of magnitude more expensive than whatever budget they have now
* Siri shipped for free with no apparent revenue streams - Apple haven't found a good way to monetize the service, (ads, partnerships, subscriptions, etc.)
* Siri is most likely a nice to have and probably not a deal-breaker for consumers when deciding what phone to buy
Cost either have to go down, or it has to become a deal-breaker or they need to monetize it somehow.
My guess...
