It gets proposed every now and then, but the consensus is that this would short-circuit the motivation and lead to a bunch of people currently on Mechanical Turk flooding in to try and make a bunch of edits to get paid.

Kind of makes me think about the debate on elected officials' salaries (and the ban on Congressional insider trading that never seems to pass)
