A while back I looked into getting pure digital signal out of my Wii. Turns out there were some off the shelf methods to do this but they weren’t compatible with my version of the Wii, so I had to do a bit of fine soldering and hacking. Definitely one of the most fun things I’ve done in a while and I surprised myself with my ingenuity and capability. This was right around a time I was feeling very burnt out on software engineering.

I’d recommend anyone here who likes video games and does software engineering facing the same doldrums look into hardware hacking. It’s really quite invigorating.
