The quality of big budget movies has also dropped to the point I'd rather just wait for streaming.

Aside from an indee movie ( Mad God I think ) , I haven't seen a single movie in a theater since Rise of Skywalker.

Yes Disney it was that bad.

I honestly think theaters are obsolete, I'd personally rather stay home and watch Netflix.

I frankly think this point isn't considered seriously enough.

When you go to a sports event you see the sports instead of a screen.

When you go to a play, you see the play instead of a screen.

When you go the cinema, you see a screen. A bigger screen with a great sound system etc etc, sure, but a screen nonetheless.

Does it make sense to move 200 people to a big room with a big screen when each one of them have a small room with a small screen?

If for some bizarre reason cinemas were invented just now, would they find any market at all? It does sound like a bit of an absurd proposition to me.

I find almost all newly released movies uninteresting - maybe it's old age or maybe modern big budget movies are "over-calculated" - it seems like producers want to tick all possible boxes, sell to as broad audience as possible and of course play it safe to the maximum - do not try something new which isn't sequel, prequel or other similar form of "guaranteed audience" insurance. It results in watchable but totally uninteresting and mediocre outcome.
