Why does this defy physics? How are buildings supposed to collapse?

Would've been pretty tricky having demolition crews placing explosives in 3 buildings in NYC for weeks without anyone noticing.

A construction crew completed a retrofit on Citicorp Center in NYC over a few months, and the project was kept secret for almost 20 years after its completion.
