But this is false. Humans don’t need to do a particular amount of work because there is X amount of work to be done and it has to be distributed, so that new non-human systems replacing human work reduce the amount of work each human has to do.
Humans have to do a particular amount of work because they need each, individually, to net (or be gifted) a certain amount of market value to acquire the needs of survival and desired lifestyle, so if the value of the work they do is decreased in the market, they don’t need to do less, they need to do more.
There is no labor saving from automation, unless there is additional redistribution of the capital gains enabled by automation shifting returns from labor to capital.
